ABOUT
TAHIR QAWWAL

Tahir Qawwal is a world-renowned musician and singer who has dedicated his life to the celebration of divine love through the sacred music of the Sufi masters. Leaving his birthplace in Canada at 16, he spent the next 5 years as a wandering dervish/yogi in the Himalayan mountain range.

Fast-forward to his return to civilisation, where he studied diligently for over two decades with the master musicians of our era.

Tahir's connection to the divine is evident through his devotion, and he brings an unparalleled level of presence and energy that inspires students everywhere.

WHAT OUR STUDENTS SAY ABOUT THE RETREAT

"Indian music has historically been very intimidating for me. But in this retreat, I feel that I really got a sense of it.

I could step into the mystery without being intimidated and still get a flavour of it. Thank you so much, guys!"

"I came into this course not being a singer—actually feeling very far from it! So in the beginning, I felt pretty self-conscious.

But because we were singing in a group, I could hit notes that I couldn't before. Because of that, I felt much more confident and at peace to just go for it and try the high notes!

Also, not caring about mistakes as much as I would have if it was just me. So it was a very liberating experience!"

"This retreat has led me much deeper into the soulful expression and sincerity in my musical explorations.

[...] It's been really beautiful, especially being in a circle with other people singing, it's so profound to feel it resonating in our bodies and to see the breakthroughs everyone is having.

I highly recommend Sama School, no matter what level you are at, beginner, intermediate or advanced."

— Scott Mitchell Atkins, Marketer & Musician, Nashville, TN

"Now, even a few days after the retreat has been over, I can really see a marked difference in what I'm capable of doing vocally."
